Service Description

Join us on our free longer social led-ride from Woolwich Arsenal to Borough Market and back via the Thames Path, historic Greenwich, and Southwark Park. This ride is suitable for adults and children aged 11 and above who can ride with good levels of control and are able to ride a reasonable distance (we'll take it steady!). This ride will be a mixture of traffic-free and on-road. We'll cycle on Tooley Street before reaching Borough Market which can get quite busy so some prior experience cycling on the road is recommended. Our ride leaders will be there to offer support along the journey. The route will take us from Woolwich Arsenal along the Thames Path and onto Greenwich. From there, we'll join the C10 cycle route and then cut through Southwark Park to join the new C4 cycle route, which passes Tower Bridge. From there, it's a short ride to Borough Market, where we'll enjoy a break, before riding back! The ride will depart at 9.45am sharp from outside Woolwich Works in Woolwich Arsenal (The Fireworks Factory, 11 No 1 St, Royal Arsenal, London SE18 6HD). Please arrive at 9.30am so we can start the ride on time! You’ll need to bring your own cycle, which should be in good working order. Remember to wear comfortable clothes that are suitable for the weather. We recommend you bring a snack and something to drink for the ride. This ride is individuals living or working in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. Any children attending the led-ride must be supervised. Please complete the sign up form to register for the free ride (you can book a maximum of 3 riders on this ride). Places will be filled on a first come, first served basis. If you don't get a place, email us and we can add you to a mailing list to notify you about future rides. Happy Cycling!

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION POLICY: If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you need to cancel your attendance on the led-ride, please do so as soon as possible: The rides are funded by the Royal Borough of Greenwich and we want to ensure that the rides are as well-attended as possible. If you are no longer able to attend but you have a friend or family member who would be able to attend in your / the relevant rider's place using your booking, then this will be fine with us so long as they complete the relevant consent form prior to attending the ride. In these cases, you do not need to rebook on the system. If, for any unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to deliver the ride (such as due to your instructor / ride leader being unwell), we will endeavour to notify you as soon as possible. CANCELLATIONS FOR POOR WEATHER: It's very rare that rides need to be cancelled for poor weather. Through riders and coaches dressing appropriately for their sessions, it is expected that rides will still take place in temperamental weather like sporadic or light rain. However, rides may be cancelled in the following situations: - When there is persistent and heavy rain forecast for the ride. - If there are weather warnings such as for high winds / gusts. - Extreme hot or cold weather. - Icy or snowy conditions. We kindly ask that you do everything you can to attend any ride that you've booked with us, and if you have concerns about your ability to attend, then please get in touch with us as soon as you can.
